The PS5 could get restocked in India sooner than you think

The Sony PlayStation 5 was restocked for the third time in India with pre-orders opening up across retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, Vijay Sales, Croma, etc. The restocks for the June 7 delivery sold out in minutes yesterday after starting at 12 noon. If you did not manage to place an order – don’t worry. There’s some good news for you. According to reports, Sony has another restock planned for June itself.

Sources have told IGN India that another restock for the PS5 console is going to happen this month itself. This is the first time that the PS5 is being made available twice in the same month. The decision to stock the gaming console for a second time in the same month is probably driven by the first restock selling out and strong sales earlier in the month. Additionally, it could also be to compete with the Microsoft Xbox Series S, according to reports.

The latest restock saw only the Standard Edition of the PS5 going on sale and the one before that had very limited availability of the Digital Edition. It is likely that the second restock might have more PS5 Digital Edition units along with more accessories, like the Pulse HD Headset.

The February PS5 launch had less than 4,000 units available for sale, which is a pretty low number. The subsequent restock quantities are “one and halk and two times more in total versus launch quantity as per industry estimates”. This is in line with older reports that indicated that PS5 restock quantities would be substantial. This can be expected for the next restock as well.

IGN India had reported that PS5 stocks landed in India in April, but Sony did not make them available till now due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It remains to be seen how this decision is going to impact retailers like Flipkart and Amazon.

Sony has not commented on these details yet and this renewed focus might have something to do with the newer games coming later this year, like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon: Forbidden West (we also told you that some of these games might make it to your smartphone and tabs later this year). Now, if Sony has new games rolling out, it’s just stupid to not have the console itself unavailable for purchase.
